So what is a wakebait, you ask? It's essentially a topwater crankbait. These guys have a very shallow running bill, and that enables them to either dive about 5 inches, or run along the surface. It's all dependent on your retrieve, so you can play around with it's abilities. If you decide to run it on the top, it creates a very distinct wake, which allows the bass to key in on it, and obliterate it. The skirt on the back just entices them even more. With a tantalizing pulse, the skirt adds the extra "it factor", and causes the right ones to bite.
